ASPHALT INCREASES - Asphalt prices will continue to rise in the second quarter to record levels as higher crude prices dictate the returns refineries will demand to produce asphalt. Expect all asphalt based products to continue to rise. Don't forget to call Continental, the home of the one and only NO SMELL ASPHALT.
NAIL INCREASES - A confluence of factors is driving nail prices to record levels and rapidly rising prices. Raw material and ocean freight are skyrocketing. Steel supply is already being limited in China as plants are forced to close prior to the Olympics to try and limit the pollution. We expect some shortage on nail supply due to limited steel that will be available to producer nails thru the time leading up to and immediately after the Olympics.
ORGANIC FELT INCREASES - As goes asphalt prices so goes felt. Nationally most organic roofing felt prices have moved 10 - 12%. This does not even come close to getting the plants what they need, so expect another 10% in felt prices in the near future.
FIBERBOARD INCREASES - Fiberboard products will increase nationally about 4% effective shipments May 5th, 2008. Please call your local CMI sales Rep or CMI Customer Service for your new delivered pricing.
