CMI Price Increase Announcement: Mechanically Attached Underlayments
Dear Valued Customer,
Effective with container shipments on August 7th, 2025 The White House has announced significant tariff increases on nearly all imported products into the US. The amounts vary based on origin and some are subject to additional changes creating an air of uncertainty.
CMI continues to uphold our firm belief in full transparency and we work to give our customers, and contractors that use our products, full line of sight into these actual cost pressures.
Beginning with container shipments on August 7th we have revised our mechanically-attached synthetics surcharge to reflect the new rates which are on average 25% of the FOB value of the material only. CMI produces high quality underlayments in different locations so we maintain a flexibility to pivot and support the interests of our distributor customers. All material continues to be made to our high standards and specifications and is routinely third party plant audited by contract with Intertek and carries those important certifications. Unfortunately these tariff adjustments necessitate the following price changes.
Direct Containers – Price Adjustment – 8-7-2025:
- Mechanically-Attached Synthetic Roof Underlayment’s: Tariff Surcharge will be revised to reflect the new tariff schedule.
- Note: These increases are solely due to the new tariffs and are separate from any fluctuations in raw material costs, ocean freight, or manufacturing expenses.
CMI also has the largest warehouse network and carries inventory for quick shipment in the US of both Mechanically-attached and Self-Adhered underlayment products. To reflect that adjusted costs of mechanically-attached material we will be implementing a 9 – 12% increase on all of those products effective with warehouse shipments beginning 9/1/25.
CMI Warehouses – Price Adjustment – 9-1-2025:
- Mechanically-Attached Synthetic Roof Underlayments: 9% to 12% increase
- Note: During this time warehouse availability may become limited.
Self Adhered Underlayment’s no changes at this time.
